L O N G L I G H T: Summer Movement & Writing Pop Ups

Mondays July 6 · July 13 · August 17 · August 24 | 9-11:30

Summer is a season of full exposure — long days, open skies, big thunderstorms, and our bodies asked to meet the heat, the ripening, the wildly full aliveness of it all. Inspired by the season, Long Light is an invitation to move, to sweat, to write from the essence of your sun-lit self — from the place where the heat is on, almost too much even, where the days are wide and the ripening of your eros is reddening like the cherries.

ABOUT THESE GATHERINGS

Crafted for movers who want to write and writers who want to move — these gatherings are for anyone who loves to move, who is curious about writing as a form of self-inquiry, or who is seeking a deeper body-based expression. Even those who don't yet call themselves writers — but feel something wanting to come forward onto the page — have found a home here.

Each session opens with a full, hearty facilitated dance inspired by 5Rhythms, somatic and developmental movement, and yoga. We shake loose what wants to be put onto the page. We ground ourselves in the body to support the writing process — and then we write. Robustly, fully, drawing on prompts and exercises to craft lived experience into language and language into alive art. We write alone and sometimes collectively. There is gentle guidance to nudge your writing and editing process along. Sharing and witnessing of each other and our work is held sacredly.

A poet lives within us all. A dancer's heart awakens as soon as we bring ourselves to the beat. These gatherings are an invitation to let your body lead — into movement, into language, into the truth that surfaces when we stop managing and start feeling.

People find this time not only deeply nourishing and insightful but a genuine stoke to their creative fire — and essentially healing through art.

B E T W E E N E A R T H & S K Y:

A Fall Movement and Writing Series

Dates TBD

Between Earth and Sky is a fall series for movers and writers ready to meet that turning. We work in the space between — between what's been and what's coming, between the body and the page, between the life we've been living and the truth that wants to be named. We move to loosen what wants to be spoken. We write to make art from what we find.
