Applied Psychology For Yogis is Livia's intellectual and felt-sense love child that advances the way we think about, practice, and teach modern yoga.

Programs include one-on-one counseling/professional supervision/mentoring, online courses, on-site intensives, teacher training modules, educational lectures, and rites of passage retreats.

The first aim of Applied Psychology For Yogis is to encourage the yoga teacher's personal embodiment process through somatic resourcing, the unwinding of trauma and the investigation of emotional intelligence.

Building upon this solid foundation, the second aim of Applied Psychology for Yogis is to educate and support teachers in creating emotionally/psychologically sound yoga classes thereby empowering their students and finding the authentic capacity to guide students without selling out, coming up short, or feeling less than.

The third aim of Applied Psychology for Yogis is one of systemic change; to promote the psychological healing and growth of modern yoga culture by looking directly at the shadow of ourselves and our yogaverse. We move toward inclusivity and Right Relationship to self and other as we develop on our path. We change the tide.

EMBODIED PSYCHOLOGY FOR YOGIS

A psych 101 for yoga teachers chock full of great terms and concepts to keep the sticky-ness off of the sticky mat. It is a fantastic introduction to some of the other courses.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR SHIT TOGETHER

A training about somatic resourcing, shock and trauma aimed at healing and educating the teacher as self reliant practitioner and empowered leader. This is a great training to learn about what some people call trauma sensitive yoga but it is geared towards how to be trauma sensitive for the average population.

EMOTIONAL LITERACY FOR YOGA TEACHERS

Yoga teachers are in general, highly sensitive and emotionally wired for compassion. Why not capitalize on that toward greater health and wellbeing? This training explains how to read and communicate needs and feelings using your deepest and most trusty tool; your body. I know it sounds a little kindergarten but you would be surprised how far an "I feel..." statement goes and how much we forget as we grow up.

DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS

A training on the shadow -- yours, your community's -- all the things we have shame, blame, and guilt about. You know, the addictions, the abuse, the gaps between what we preach and what we teach. This workshop airs out the closet so that teachers can look at themselves more honestly and show up to teach more authentically.

YOUR BRAIN ON YOGA

This is really where the rubber meets the road. This training examines the cutting edge studies in neurobiology that basically prove why yoga works to give us greater sense of ease and wellbeing, less stress and improved livelihood. We look at the mechanisms of the brain that are at play when a student is learning yoga so that we might better understand how to reach our students skillfully in our language, theming and presentation.  We also investigate some of the neuroscience behind why yoga when wielded willy nilly and unskillfully, can be psychologically damaging. Be prepared to have your mind blown.

THE PSYCHOLOGICALLY SOUND YOGA TEACHER/CLASSROOM

The western psyche in eastern practices is a tricky and interesting endeavor. Learn skills rooted in efficacious somatic psychology to enhance your teaching. We cover all manners in which we can sure-up the containers of our teaching environments and methods.
